The Junior League of Richmond (JLR) and Dominion Resources will welcome seven national authors to Richmond on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, for the 69th Book & Author Event.

A spring literary feast taking place at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, the Book & Author Dinner is the longest running event of its kind in the country.

Fostering a love for reading and promoting of the art of writing, the Junior League of Richmond’s Book & Author Event encompasses several activities in the Richmond community, including a luncheon, author visits to local schools, and a dinner presentation featuring each of the seven authors.

The Junior League is most grateful to Dominion, Presenting Signature Sponsor, and to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Paul Duke Sponsor, for their dedicated support of this event.

Last year's event raised over $53,000 to assist the League in its mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Individual tickets for the dinner are $75, and tables of 10 are available for the discounted rate of $675 until April 1, 2014. Patron level sponsor tickets are $90, which includes preferred dinner seating and recognition in the program. Friend level sponsor tickets are $135, which include a cocktail reception with the authors, preferred dinner seating and recognition in the event program. A limited number of gallery seats, which will not include dinner, are available for $30. Luncheon tickets are $55.  A cash bar will be available at both events.

The Internal Revenue Service allows a tax deduction on the amount paid for tickets that exceeds the fair market value of the goods and services received. The Junior League of Richmond has established a fair market value of $35 per person for dinner or lunch and entertainment at this event.   The amount paid for each person that exceeds $35 is considered a tax deductible donation.  The dinner gallery ticket is fully tax deductible.
