74th Book & Author Brings Well Known Authors to Richmond

posted on

The Junior League of Richmond hosted the 74th Book & Author on Tuesday, April 23.  This year’s event, one of the longest running programs of its kind in the country, featured seven authors who entertained the hundreds of guests who attended the luncheon at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and/or the dinner and theater programs at The Altria Theater.

On Tuesday morning, the authors visited Richmond schools and career centers to meet and interact with some the students who participate in the League’s community programs.  A new essay contest was added to the Book & Author activities this year to highlight the importance of literacy and offer a chance for area middle school students to attend the event.

This year’s Book & Author featured:  Heath Lee – The League of Women; Susan Meissner – The Last Year of the War; Dorothea Benton Frank – By Invitation Only; Ted and Matt Lee – Hotbox; Tembi Locke – From Scratch and Katherine Wintsch – Slay Like a Mother.

The Junior League of Richmond is grateful to the Richmond community for its wonderful support of  Book & Author  each year as well as the many companies and organizations who sponsored the 74th annual event, including our presenting sponsor, Dominion Energy.

Mark your calendars now for the 75th Book & Author  which will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020!
