Our Community Involvement

Bright Beginnings

The Junior League of Richmond is thrilled to once again be a partner organization with YMCA Bright Beginnings.  Let’s continue to make a difference in the lives of children in our community. Our goal is to raise $24,000, enabling us to take 160 children back to school shopping this year.  To donate to the 2010 YMCA Bright Beginnings program, please click here.  We will accept donations until July 15, 2010.  Read more.

Touch a Truck

The Junior League of Richmond presents the 5th annual Touch a Truck on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Richmond International Raceway from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This event offers children a hands-on opportunity to explore heavy machinery and meet the people who build, protect and serve the Richmond community. Please click here to learn more about this event.

Literacy Through Art Outreach

Literacy Through Art Outreach committee members serve as "ambassadors" for the Children's Museum of Richmond by identifying community links and coordinating workshops where Junior League volunteers can take the magic of the museum directly to community centers and schools in Metro Richmond.

Junior Book & Author

The Junior League of Richmond was proud to host Canadian/American author Gordon Korman as the featured author for the sixth annual Junior Book & Author event held February 25-26, 2010.  Mr. Korman has written over 65 books for children and young adults, including Swindle, Schooled and No More Dead Dogs.  He visited several area public schools and spoke at our fundraising event at Collegiate School on February 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen

Kids in the Kitchen is a national program established by the Association of Junior Leagues International to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues.  It provides a forum for educational information and hands on demonstrations such as the preparation of nutritious meals to increase the students’ awareness of the need for healthy habits. In addition to serving up healthy meals, children will participate in games, martial arts, yoga, golf, storytelling and more.
